Did you know that across Europe and the UK, waste heat could meet 90% of the energy needed to keep our homes warm?
Director of Asset Management and ESG, Felicity Masefield, joined Monocle Radio’s The Urbanist to talk to David Stevens about how Native Land’s work at Bankside Yards is revolutionising the way that heating is use and reused.
Native Land is leading on the delivery of the one of the largest and most innovative implementations of the UK’s first 5th generation heat network technology in the world at Bankside Yards. The show is a great primer on the innovation going on to capture waste heat, and the huge potential that this untapped energy resource can offer, lowering energy costs for businesses and homeowners, and reducing carbon emissions.
This development is the UK’s first major mixed-use project that is fossil fuel-free in operation. It includes an integrated heating and cooling system that can harness this waste heat efficiently. Opus, the first residential building at Bankside Yards, which launches on 1 May, will benefit from this energy saving technology alongside Arbor, the all-electric smart workspace.
